    • Attendance

      Students are expected to be at school every day and to be present at each lesson during the day.

      • If a student misses a day or more, a written note of explanation from one parent is required. This note is to be handed to the class teacher at the first homeroom period the student attends after the absence.

      • When a student needs to leave school early, a written note from a parent is required on the morning of the day the leave is to be taken. The homeroom teacher signs this and the student takes it to the Year Coordinator, who signs it. When it is time for the student to leave the school, she/he takes the note to the student foyer where the student signs out. The student takes the note to the student foyer then waits in the student foyer to be collected by her/his parent.

      • Permission to be absent before the official start of term holidays, or after holidays have finished, will only be given for exceptional circumstances. A written request to the Principal is required from parents explaining the reason for the request.
    • Punctuality

      School opens at 8:00 am and supervision is provided from this time. All students should be on the school campus by 8:30 am to be in time for morning homeroom. School closes at 3:45 pm and supervision is not provided after this time.

      • Any student who arrives after the commencement of homeroom will be marked down as absent and must report to the student office where a late stamp will be put in their diary. This must be signed by the parent and shown to the homeroom teacher on the following day, accompanied by an explanation.

      • Students who arrive late without sufficient reason will be required to make up for the lost time.

      • There should be no reason to return to lockers between periods. Students are to organise themselves to carry books for all their lessons before recess, from recess to lunch time, then from lunch to dismissal.

      • Students are expected to be in class on time and are to move promptly from one class to another.
    • Transport


      Passes are issued to students (in Term 1) who live more than 1.6 km from the school. A school secretary will handle any enquires about transport matters. Students and parents should read carefully the instructions on the reverse side of the passes to avoid misunderstanding.

      Any change of address requires a new application, and a pass not being used must be surrendered. If a bus pass is lost it may be replaced by calling the bus company office (not the school) and paying the required fee.

      Passes must be surrendered prior to termination of enrolment.

      Students should move quietly and sensibly to buses on dismissal from homeroom.


      Train passes are issued early in Term 1 through the school. New students enrolling at the school are required to fill out an application form. Continuing students are required to surrender their old passes at the end of the year and a new pass will be issued from the student office. To replace a lost train pass a form must be obtained from the student office, be completed by a parent and endorsed by the school. The form is to be forwarded by a parent to the address shown on the form.


      Bikes should not be ridden in the school grounds. Students who choose to ride bicycles must also wear helmets.

      Walking/parent pick-up

      All students who cross Rifle Range Road are to use the pedestrian crossing. Parents should park their cars in Rifle Range Road, opposite the school oval, or in Sirius Road.

    • Diary guidelines

      The diary is to be used by students to record set homework and for reminders about assignments, assessment tasks and any other school-related information.

      • It is a means of direct communication between teachers and parents for written notes about the student’s progress or any other relevant information.

      • Diary notes to parents from teachers are to be signed by parents on the day the note is written.

      • The school diary is NOT to be used for personal notes e.g. friends’ birthdays, social events etc.

      • Students are required to have their diaries with them from the start of each Homeroom period and for all classes they attend during the day. They should also have their diary with them at any time they need to leave the class for any reason, with the teacher’s permission clearly noted in the diary.

      • If the diary is left at home, a diary slip is to be obtained from the Homeroom teacher to be used for the day. This slip must be glued in to the appropriate page in the diary at the end of the day.

      • Diaries must be signed by the parents and the Homeroom teacher each week to monitor student progress and ensure that all communication has been received.

      • Parents and students are to read all the front pages of the diary so as to be clear about policies and procedures in the College, and sign the front page of the diary to acknowledge that they have done so.
    • Canteen

      The canteen is available for ordering of lunches. Students may order their lunch directly from the canteen before recess.

    • School shop

      A school diary will be distributed on the first day of school.

    • Mobile phones

      Mobile phone policy

      The College’s position on mobile phones is that they should NOT be brought to school unless absolutely necessary, as students’ misuse of mobile phones can be a source of distraction to learning in the classroom. They also create potential problems such as bullying or harassment via SMS, or the transmission or display of any inappropriate material.

      • If it is necessary for students to bring a mobile phone to school, the phone must be switched off from the time students enter the school grounds in the morning until they leave the school grounds at the end of the day

      • If there are special circumstances requiring students to have their phone switched on at any time during the day (e.g. a serious illness of a family member), a note must be provided to the Year Coordinator at the start of the day, explaining the circumstances. The Year Coordinator may then give approval for the phone to be switched on (on silent).

      • Any student with their phone switched on at any time during the day without approval from their Year Coordinator will have their phone confiscated as per the confiscation policy below.

      • Students are not to use their mobile phones to contact parents via SMS or any other means for any reason without a teacher’s permission, even in the event of illness. They are to report to the student foyer if unwell and contact with parents will be made by the office staff.

      • If a student needs to check their phone for urgent messages from parents at any time during the school day, including recess, lunchtime or before or after school whilst on school premises, permission must be obtained from a teacher before the phone is switched on.

      • Phones are not to be switched on to check the time of day.

      • Students using mobile phones to film violence and other activities deemed to be inappropriate while at school or travelling to or from school will be suspended from school and have the right to carry a phone revoked. This includes any filming of teachers or other students in school or at school activities without permission.

      • The transmission of inappropriate images, messages or recordings via mobile phone will also result in suspension from school and will be referred to the police.

      Phone Confiscation Policy

      Any student seen with a mobile phone switched on at any time without permission from a teacher will have the phone confiscated whether it belongs to them or someone else.

      • For a first offence in a year the phone will not be returned to the student until the end of the next school day, and only after the acknowledgement slip in the letter (available from the student foyer) has been signed by a parent and returned to school.

      • A second offence will result in confiscation of the phone for five school days.

      • A third offence will result in confiscation of the phone for a minimum of 10 school days after which the following process will be implemented:
        • The student will be required to report to the student foyer each morning before Homeroom to either hand in their phone to the office for the day, or inform the office that they do not have their phone with them on that day. If handed in, the phone can be collected at the end of the school day. This process will apply for a minimum period of four weeks after which it will be reviewed.
      • Phones confiscated on a Friday will not be returned until the next Monday.

      N.B. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain the confiscation letter from the student foyer on the day of the confiscation. The phone will not be returned until the acknowledgement slip is signed by a parent and returned to school.

    • Items banned at school

      All of the following items are strictly forbidden at school:

      • Knives and weapons or replicas of these
      • Alcohol
      • Cigarettes
      • Illicit drugs

      Any of the above items brought to school will result in suspension from school and could lead to expulsion and referral to the police.

      Other banned items include:

      • Liquid paper
      • Metal rulers
      • Inappropriate items of jewellery
      • Laser pens or devices with lasers
      • Skateboards or scooters
      • Chewing gum
      • Permanent felt pens or markers
      • Aerosol spray cans e.g. deodorant sprays

      Any banned items brought to school will be confiscated and retained in the College office until the end of the term or until collected by a parent.

      Consequences for chewing gum and bringing permanent felt pens or markers to school will be a Thursday after school detention for two hours or payment of a $20.00 fine.

      N.B. Devices for audio or visual recording purposes are not to be used by students at any time without permission from a teacher.

    • Curriculum Requirements for Years 7-10

      Students in Years 7-10 are required to satisfactorily complete courses in the following Key Learning Areas for the hours indicated over Years 7 - 10 which will lead to the awarding of a Record of School Achievement (RoSA).       At Bede Polding College, Religious Education is studied in all of Years 7-12 which is taught for a minimum of 300 hours over Years 7-10.

      A student will be considered to have satisfactorily completed a course if in the Principal's view, there is sufficient evidence that the student has:

      • followed the course endorsed or developed by NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority); and

      • applied themselves with diligence and sustained effort to the set tasks and experiences provided by the school, i.e. all set work is to be submitted on time, students are to attend all classes, students are to concentrate on their studies in class and not be disruptive

      • achieved some or all of the course outcomes.
    • Homework

      Homework benefits students by complementing classroom learning, fostering good study habits and providing an opportunity for students to be responsible for their own learning; becoming independent learners with the ability to set themselves goals with regard to the work to be completed each night.

      The aims of students completing homework are:

      • to support, consolidate and extend classroom learning
      • to develop positive study habits
      • to develop a responsibility for self-learning.

      Regular homework is encouraged. Homework includes formal work set by the teacher, completion of classwork, assignments, projects, independent research and examination preparation. On some occasions the teacher may set no formal homework, but there is no reason why home study cannot be performed. There is always work to be done - revision, working ahead and consolidation of past work, as well as reading.

      All students will be allocated a diary which is to be used for the purpose of recording homework and other school related tasks. This should be done each period of the day.

      The following are guidelines for the amount of time to be spent on homework:

      Years 7 and 8 1½ hours per night
      Year 9 2 hours per night
      Year 10 2½ hours per night
      Year 11 2½ - 3 hours per night
      Year 12 3 hours per night
      Weekends The equivalent of one week night

      The College library is open 8:00 am till 4:00 pm. This provides the students with the opportunity out of class time to complete tasks, do research or study.

      If the homework cannot be done a note should be written in the diary explaining the circumstances.

  • Uniform & Grooming
    • College uniform

      The College has a strong commitment to the maintenance of high standards; this includes those of grooming and uniform. How a student wears the uniform gives a clear message about how the student sees themselves and their College. As members of this community all students are expected to wear the uniform with pride, and groom themselves appropriately.

      The school reserves the right to say what is acceptable in all matters relating to uniform and grooming.

      • The College blazer or jacket must be worn to and from school in Terms 2 and 3 up to the end of homeroom and before being dismissed from classes at the end of each day.

      • Plain black, navy or maroon gloves and a plain black, navy or maroon scarf may be worn during Terms 2 and 3.

      • Protective wet-weather clothing may be worn to and from school. It is not to be worn during school.

      • Soft leather shoes, black joggers, boots or suede shoes are not acceptable.

      • undergarments, if worn, are not to be visible.
      • The only acceptable headwear is the College cap or hat

      • Only proper lace up sports shoes are to be worn. Laces must be properly done up at all times. Shoes must be predominately black or white.
      • College cap or hat


      • Students may wear their sports uniform to and from the College on the designated sports day, i.e. Thursday. A student who doesn’t have full sports uniform must wear normal school uniform and get changed for sport. On days when students have PE, they must bring their sports uniform and change for their PE lesson at the appropriate time. They are not to come to school dressed in their PE uniform.

      • A College cap is a compulsory part of the uniform and must be worn during PE lessons and sport. A College broad brim hat is also available and may be worn if appropriate for the activity.



      All students must have hair that is of a natural colour. Unnatural colours and extreme contrasts created through the use of dyes are not permitted. Students are not permitted to have facial or body piercings (other than those described as approved jewellery) or tattoos or other permanent markings on any part of their body that is not covered by their school uniform.


      • Girls’ hair that is longer than shoulder length is to be tied back from the face and behind the head. Fringes and other lengths of hair are to be off the face and out of the eyes.
      • Ribbons, hair slides or bands, elastics etc. if worn, must be plain, single coloured and either navy, maroon, black or white only.
      • If nail polish is worn, it must be clear and plain, not coloured or decorated in any way.
      • Artificial nail extensions, if worn, must be of a length that is deemed to be safe.
      • The use of the following make-up is accepted at the College:
      • Lightly applied natural shades of foundation
      • Brown or black mascara
      • Clear nail polish
      • Clear lip gloss
      • The following will NOT be accepted:
      • Blush
      • Eyeshadow
      • Eyeliner
      • Lip balm must be clear, non-glitter and without any colouring


      • Hairstyles where there are clearly contrasting extremes in length are not permitted.  Shaved patterns or partings are not permitted.
      • Excessive use of gel or wax and all extreme styles eg spikes or layers are not permitted.
      • Boys’ hair should not extend beyond the collar.
      • Length of boys’ fringes must not extend beyond the eyebrows when brushed forward over the forehead.
      • Hair is not to be brushed forward over the face or temples.
      • Shaved heads are not permitted.
      • Boys are to be clean shaven with sideburns not extending beyond the bottom of the ear lobe. (Boys that come to school unshaven will be sent to the student foyer and required to pay $1.00 for a razor and shave cream, and shave before returning to classes).


      Students may wear only the following items of jewellery:

      Girls Boys
      • A wrist watch
      • A chain with cross or religious medallion may be worn under shirt line. 
      • One pair of sleepers or small, plain, round studs. One earring in each ear and only in the lobe. Earrings must not be any larger than 1cm in diameter.
      • Senior girls' earrings may have a single stone, but should not be dangling.
      • stones in the earrings must not be more than 5mm in width or diameter
      • Girls may wear one small ring on the ring finger.
      • A wrist watch
      • A chain with cross or religious medallion may be worn under shirt line.
      • Boys may wear one small ring on the ring finger
      • Facial piercings are not permitted for any student in the College.
      • Plastic spacers to keep piercings open (e.g. ear, nose or eyebrow piercings) are not to be worn at any time by any student at school

      Please label all articles of uniform clearly.


      • The Bede Polding College bag (available from the uniform shop) is compulsory for all students in the school.

      • Graffiti and stickers must not be used to decorate bags.

      Mufti days

      The only variation to students’ attire will be that they are allowed to wear neat casual clothing instead of their normal school uniform. All other regulations still apply.

      This means that:

      1. All normal school rules for hair, jewellery and make up will apply.
      2. All students must wear enclosed footwear, i.e. no thongs or sandals.
      3. All clothing must be neat, modest and appropriate. The following guidelines for clothing are to be observed:
      • There should be no inappropriate slogans or images on any clothing.
      • Clothing should cover the shoulders (ie. no shoe string straps for girls and no sleeveless singlets for boys) and should completely cover the midriff. Girls’ tops should have appropriately modest necklines that are not revealing.
      • If dresses, skirts or shorts are worn, they must be of suitable length and style, i.e. at least to the middle of the thigh.
      • Skin tight pants or leggings are not to be worn without a skirt or shorts of appropriate length worn over them.
      • Jeans for both boys and girls must be intact, without cuts or holes in them and are not to be worn in such a manner that any part of the midriff or underwear is exposed.

      Any student who breaches the above dress regulations may be asked to go home immediately and will lose the privilege of wearing mufti for any other mufti days held during the year.

      Lapses in grooming or the wearing of uniform

      In all cases except those relating to facial piercings, the following process will be followed:

      • Any student whose uniform or grooming does not comply with College expectations will be issued with a uniform slip which they sign to acknowledge their non-compliance. 3 uniform slips issued in a term will result in a Tuesday after school detention for one hour.

      • In cases of students who continually fail to comply with uniform and/or grooming expectations and who need to complete more than 3 Tuesday detentions in one semester, correspondence will be sent home to parents warning them of consequences for any further uniform or grooming infringements which may include suspension from the College.

      • Students who continue to choose not to comply after this correspondence and the action described will be making a choice not to be part of the College community.

      In all cases involving piercings, the following process will apply:

      • If a student arrives at school with a visible facial or body piercing, the parents of the student will be notified by phone immediately of the nature of the problem and the student will be sent home or withdrawn from classes immediately.

      • If the student returns to the College with the piercing after this communication, the parents will be notified immediately and the student will be withdrawn from classes until an interview can be organised with the Principal.

      Note: All items of school uniform, including the school bag, are readily available from the School Uniform Shop with the exception of jackets, blazers and tracksuits, which need to be ordered. Opening hours will be advised in the fortnightly school newsletter.


      • Valuable items should not be brought to school as no responsibility will be taken for their loss.

      • Money and valuables should not be left in bags. Students should use the lockers provided to store any items of value. N.B. All lockers must be locked at all times when not in use.

      • Technological aids may be used only in relevant learning situations under the direction of the teacher (e.g. digital cameras, MP3 players, iPods and other such devices).

      • If any such devices are used at school or on school activities without a teacher’s permission, they will be confiscated and retained in the College until the end of the next school day.
  • Parent Involvement & Interaction
    • How can you contribute?

      The College Executive encourages and values parental involvement in both the curricular and extracurricular activities of the College.

      The Parents and Friends Association (P&F) is a well established and active body that over many years has provided funding for numerous projects to enrich the life experiences and learning facilities at the College.

      Their regular meetings are held at the College. New members are always welcome and meeting times are advertised in the ‘Good Samaritan’, the College newsletter.

    • Telephone

      On special occasions the school will use the phone to make urgent contact with parents. Therefore, it is essential that the school be informed if a home or work number is changed. We will also ring if we are unsure of your child's whereabouts, i.e., he/she is not at school and we have had no prior notification of this absence.

      Telephone messages for students cannot be passed on through the school office except in cases of emergency.

      It is extremely difficult to ensure that messages get to students so it is advisable that parents be aware that changes and variations to normal routine should be discussed at home before a student comes to school.

    • Diary

      The diary will be used as a means of communication by the staff to you, or by you to the staff. Teachers may indicate your child's progress by way of a diary note, and you may wish to contact your child's teacher(s) using the diary.

      Parents are asked to sign the diary by Wednesday of each week.

    • Newsletter

      The school newsletter ‘Good Samaritan’ is published every second Friday (Week B) and distributed through our Skoolbag App. Newsletters are also published and archived on the school website. ‘Good Samaritan’ contains information that we consider to be of importance to parents. We expect each student to read the newsletter and to deliver it to their parents.

    • Student reports

      Twice a year, reports will be sent to parents informing them of student progress. In some cases it will be necessary to follow this report with a parent interview.

    • Parent teacher interviews

      Before the end of Term 2 there will be special evenings when all teachers will be available to discuss the report and general progress of students. Parents are expected to attend.

      Parents may contact the school and arrange an interview whenever they consider a situation needs clarification or communication.

    • Absence notes

      The school must keep written records of each child's attendance. For this reason:

      • if you know in advance that your child is to be absent, please send a hand written note explaining the circumstances

      • if your child is absent without notice, please telephone the school as soon as possible and send a hand written note bearing the date when your child returns to school.

    • Student management

      Bede Polding College is committed to the development of the whole student through a blend of the spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical experiences that encourages a love of learning and growth in the love of God. The College Student Management policy encourages our students to live the College motto ‘Called to Bring Peace’. Students, teachers and parents work together in order to provide a climate where the whole school community can learn in a peaceful and harmonious environment. Every effort is made to lead the students to an awareness of what each person must do to help preserve the peace and harmony of the College.

      Guidelines have been established to help students recognise those behaviours which are not in keeping with the College motto. These require the students to be accountable for their actions, encourage self-discipline and attempt to develop the skills necessary to deal with the pressures of modern living, and ensure that the College is a safe place for all to learn. Students are expected to follow the guidelines set by the College.

      Students who have difficulty in meeting the expectations of the College community are given every opportunity to see the inappropriateness of their actions and are supported in their efforts to modify their behaviour. The support measures provided by the College to students who have difficulties with the guidelines are:

      • Counselling of the students by College staff (the College counsellor may become involved)

      • Time-out for the student to reconsider his/her actions. This may take the form of a lunchtime detention, or detentions after school on Tuesdays (1 hour), Thursdays (2 hours) or Saturday mornings (3 hours).
    • Hands-off policy

      The College enforces a very strict hands-off policy which simply states that no student is to make any kind of physical contact with any other student or their property. This includes, kissing, hugging and shaking hands.

      The consequence for breaking the hands-off policy is an immediate, non-negotiable Tuesday after school detention.

      In serious examples of students being unable to conduct themselves within the guidelines as set by the College, the Principal may suspend the students from classes or from attending school for a period of time.
    • Defiance

      Defiance is the refusal by a student to follow a reasonable instruction by a staff member.

      Defiance is not acceptable behaviour at Bede Polding College. Any student displaying defiant behaviour will be suspended from school and will not return to school until after a parental interview has been conducted with the Principal.

      • Opportunities for reconciliation with the College community can be made by doing service around the school.
    • Merit awards

      At Bede Polding College, the focus on student management is on building positive relationships with students both in and out of the classroom. Based on our College motto “Called to bring peace”, students are encouraged to be “Safe, Respectful Learners”. Recognition is given to students who display positive behaviours through a Merit Award Scheme. There are guidelines for staff to reward students for a range of good behaviours. The Merit Award Scheme operates on a four-tiered system as follows:

      Positive Behaviour Awards are issued for any of the following and other behaviours deemed by staff to be deserving of recognition:

      In-class behaviours

      • Consistency in effort, cooperation, involvement, achievement or application over a sustained period of time (for a minimum of half a term or on completion of a full unit of work)
      • Maintaining a high quality of work e.g. classwork, bookwork (again, over a sustained period of time)
      • High achievement in assessment tasks
      • Showing significant improvement in learning through application and effort e.g. for a student who is not necessarily academic, but tries hard or demonstrates perseverance
      • Demonstrating positive learning behaviours e.g. showing initiative by asking questions, seeking assistance, taking responsibility for their own learning
      • Positive contribution and participation in class discussion (sustained)
      • Actively and frequently (or always) demonstrating and promoting safe or respectful  behaviour - in or out of class (this could be a one-off behaviour if it was something significant, displaying true character or courage. Less significant positive behaviours could be rewarded by diary notes or verbal affirmation).
      • Displaying genuine compassion, responsibility towards others
      • Going out of their way to help staff and fellow students e.g. peer teaching, mentoring

      Out of class behaviours

      • Voluntary community service, assisting others (students or staff) without being asked

      • Making contributions to the school e.g. assisting with events such as debating after school hours, soup kitchen. If this is done over an extended period of time e.g. 5-6 weeks or more, the student/s could be considered for a Coordinator’s Award

      • Honesty e.g. finding and handing in lost items

      • Doing something over and above normal expectations (this could be in or out of class)

      • Showing leadership without being expected to in activities such as sport, e.g. encouraging others to participate or try harder

      • Reporting or intervening in a bullying incident
    • Bullying Policy

      Every student at Bede Polding College has a fundamental right to feel safe. It is the right of everyone to be able to come to our school each day without fear of intimidation, humiliation or being threatened with harm, verbally, physically or by any other means. Teasing and name calling are not tolerated at Bede Polding College.

      Any student who is bullied in any way in class or at school must inform their teacher, their Year Coordinator or anyone they feel comfortable speaking to about the situation, as soon as it happens. Parents are encouraged at all times to contact the College to report any bullying of their children. Please do not hesitate to use the bpcnobullying@parra.catholic.edu.au email to report cases of bullying.

      Students that are victims of bullying are added to a register that is maintained by Year Coordinators. This register is used by staff as part of a process of regular checks on these students to ensure that they continue to feel safe at the College.

      Students involved in bullying behaviours will be dealt with most seriously. In most cases the parents of the bully are contacted and involved in the process to support a change in their child’s behaviour. In most cases this behaviour will involve some consequence which may include counselling. The process is designed to directly address the inappropriate behaviour that is causing another student at the College to feel unsafe.

      Repeat bullying behaviours can lead to a significant suspension and even withdrawal of the student from the College.

    • Management Record Form

      As part of the process of developing responsible and self-disciplined students, they are expected to be well-organised for all lessons.

      All teachers utilise Management Record Forms (MRF) to monitor behaviour and the quality of students’ work in or out of the classroom. (An example of these forms with an explanation is provided later in this document). The process is designed to encourage students to work positively to improve their learning.

      Year Coordinators and teachers constantly advise and counsel students to be punctual to school and to classes, to be organised for lessons by bringing all necessary materials to classes, to complete class-work and homework to a high standard, to return notes on time and to have their diaries signed by parents each week. These are obligations that all students are expected to meet on a regular basis.

      On the MRFs, students are given at least three opportunities each term (till the end of Week 2 of the next term) to meet their responsibilities. In the case of inappropriate behaviour in or out of the classroom, after the second incident that is recorded on the MRF, parental contact is made by the teacher via telephone to inform the parent about the behaviours in an endeavour to prevent a further incident. If there is a third incident, this results in a Tuesday after school detention for an hour.

      In the case of poor organisation or any other failure to meet expectations, incidents are recorded on the MRF for Learning Behaviours. For each incident recorded on these forms, a diary notification is made to keep parents informed. It is very important that parents check and sign diaries each week to monitor their child’s progress.

  • Health Care & First aid
    • First aid treatment

      If a student feels ill or suffers an accident at school, this fact is to be brought to the attention of the class teacher or playground supervisor. This teacher will arrange for another student to accompany him/her to the student office, where the appropriate attention will be decided.

      Where a student is not well enough to continue at school, or requires hospital treatment, every effort will be made to contact the parents. It is vital that the school is notified of any changes to contact details. When contacted regarding a child’s illness parents are expected to either collect the child themselves or arrange for a relative or friend to do so.

      Students are covered for ambulance travel to the hospital and the diocese provides some accident insurance. Students are covered by School Care Policy provided by Catholic Church Insurances. They are covered 24 hours a day, seven days a week for school organised activities. Claim forms are available from the College office.

      Students on prescribed medication or with existing medical conditions must notify the school in writing. The school cannot legally administer any medications without written permission from a parent.

      On occasions, students are sent to school when they are sick and report to sick bay as soon as they arrive at school. Please keep your child at home if he/she is sick. We do not have the staff and resources to look after sick children all day. The sick bay is meant as a temporary waiting area for a child who needs to be picked up.

    • Alcohol and other drugs

      Any student found bringing alcohol or drugs to school, or any other school activity or function could face expulsion from the College.

    • Smoking

      Smoking at or bringing cigarettes to school or any school activity or function is strictly forbidden and will result in suspension from school. This also applies to any time that a student is seen smoking in school uniform.

      The College does not in any way support students smoking or the use of alcohol or other drugs by students, as this is a danger to their health and wellbeing.

  • Care of School Facilities
    • Classrooms

      Students are responsible for the cleanliness and good order of the classrooms under the direction of the teachers.

      Bags are to be placed in an orderly manner in the classroom, as directed by the teacher.

      TV equipment is not to be interfered with under any circumstances.

      Any damage to rooms or equipment will be paid for by the person causing the damage.

      Students are not to operate the fans and heaters.

      Students are not to be in classrooms during recess and lunch time except for the first five minutes to access lockers.

    • School grounds

      Students should make every effort to keep the grounds free of paper and other refuse by making use of the containers provided. The trees and gardens should be carefully protected.

    • Library resource centre

      • Students should maintain an atmosphere which will assist research and study.
      • Bags must be left in the appropriate area in an orderly way.
      • Glue, scissors, food and drink are not permitted in the resource centre.
      • Students must abide by the borrowing regulations and follow other directions as indicated by the librarians.


    • Lockers

      A locker is allocated to each student by the Homeroom teacher.

      • Each student’s locker must have a lock on it with a spare key to be given to the Homeroom teacher at the start of the year.
      • Students who do not provide a lock for their locker will not have access to the locker.
      • Year 7 and 8 students must use the locks provided by the College. If these are lost or damaged, they will need to purchase a new lock from the College at a cost of $12.00.
      • No student is permitted to go to another student’s locker even with the owner’s authority.
      • Lockers should be kept free from foodstuffs.
      • Regular locker inspections will be conducted by Homeroom teachers.
      • Students are only permitted to go to their lockers during homeroom and the first 5 minutes of recess and lunch and after school.
      • There is to be no sharing of lockers by students.
